1$FreeBSD$ 2 3GNU grep 4 5Original source distribution can be found at: 6 http://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/grep/ 7 8Due to an unfortunate number of bugs and performance problems in 9GNU grep 2.5.1, various patches from The Fedora Project have been applied. 10These patches can be extracted from the SRPM package available at: 11 12 http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/test/ 13 3.92/SRPMS/grep-2.5.1-48.src.rpm 14 15The following patches have been applied: 16 17 grep-2.5-i18n.patch 18 grep-2.5.1-bracket.patch 19 grep-2.5.1-color.patch 20 grep-2.5.1-dfa-optional.patch 21 grep-2.5.1-egf-speedup.patch 22 grep-2.5.1-fgrep.patch 23 grep-2.5.1-icolor.patch 24 grep-2.5.1-oi.patch 25 grep-2.5.1-w.patch 26 27In addition to these, some FreeBSD-specific changes have been made 28to add bzip2 support, etc. 29 30Due to the large number of patches applied, conflicts are likely with 31future releases. However, most of the patches are either (a) small bug 32fixes that have been fed upstream, or (b) performance improvements that 33could be reverted without loss of functionality. 34 35It is suggested that those planning to import a newer release of GNU grep 36should revert all local changes since the 2.5.1 import before proceeding 37with the newer import. 38
