wifi: ath9k: delay all of ath9k_wmi_event_tasklet() until init is complete The ath9k_wmi_event_tasklet() used in ath9k_htc assumes that all the data structures have been fully initialised by the time it runs. However, because of the order in which things are initialised, this is not guaranteed to be the case, because the device is exposed to the USB subsystem before the ath9k driver initialisation is completed. We already committed a partial fix for this in commit: 8b3046abc99e ("ath9k_htc: fix NULL pointer dereference at ath9k_htc_tx_get_packet()") However, that commit only aborted the WMI_TXSTATUS_EVENTID command in the event tasklet, pairing it with an "initialisation complete" bit in the TX struct. It seems syzbot managed to trigger the race for one of the other commands as well, so let's just move the existing synchronisation bit to cover the whole tasklet (setting it at the end of ath9k_htc_probe_device() instead of inside ath9k_tx_init()). wifi: ath9k: Fix use-after-free in ath9k_hif_usb_disconnect() This patch fixes a use-after-free in ath9k that occurs in ath9k_hif_usb_disconnect() when ath9k_destroy_wmi() is trying to access 'drv_priv' that has already been freed by ieee80211_free_hw(), called by ath9k_htc_hw_deinit(). ath9k: Fix error check in ath9k_hw_read_revisions() for PCI devices When the error check in ath9k_hw_read_revisions() was added, it checked for -EIO which is what ath9k_regread() in the ath9k_htc driver uses. However, for plain ath9k, the register read function uses ioread32(), which just returns -1 on error. So if such a read fails, it still gets passed through and ends up as a weird mac revision in the log output. Fix this by changing ath9k_regread() to return -1 on error like ioread32() does, and fix the error check to look for that instead of -EIO. Which is ok so far we have only one fw version (1.3). After we realised new fw 1.4, we faced compatibility problem which was decided to solve by firmware name and location: - new firmware is located now in firmware/ath9k_htc/htc_[9271|7010]-1.4.0.fw - old version 1.3 should be on old place, so old kernel have no issues with it. - new kernels including this patch should be able to try different supported (min..max) fw version. - new kernel should be able to support old fw location too. At least for now. At same time this patch will add new module option which should allow user to play with development fw version without replacing stable one. If user will set “ath9k_htc use_dev_fw=1” module will try to find firmware/ath9k_htc/htc_[9271|7010]-1.dev.0.fw first and if it fails, use stable version: for example...1.4.0.fw. mac80211: convert HW flags to unsigned long bitmap As we're running out of hardware capability flags pretty quickly, convert them to use the regular test_bit() style unsigned long bitmaps. This introduces a number of helper functions/macros to set and to test the bits, along with new debugfs code. The occurrences of an explicit __clear_bit() are intentional, the drivers were never supposed to change their supported bits on the fly. We should investigate changing this to be a per-frame flag. ath9k_htc: advertise support for TDLS Based on a quick test with AR9271, TDLS seems to be working fine. Tests were done with 2 Atheros AR9271 based devices with firmware 1.3 (sha1 8d49f928aa40ac53c729189bff1333cd373a7fb5), associated with a WAP54G access point. TDLS worked fine both in WPA2 mode and without encryption. Stations maintained ping flood traffic between each other and towards the AP without significant losses. Not tested with AR7010. TDLS was enabled in earlier patches the same way for other Atheros drivers: ath9k (fd6562344dea2b8b2a5d644cf971f4e56004500a), and carl9170 (d1f3de71a584a82ee4e84505fce9acccf40215ff). With the addition of MCI support, ath9k picked up quite a bit of extra code that can be compiled out this way. This patch redefines ATH9K_HW_CAP_MCI and adds an inline wrapper for querying the bluetooth coexistence scheme, allowing the compiler to eliminate code that uses it, with only very little use of #ifdef. Revert "ath9k: Parse DTIM period from mac80211" This reverts commit 0ce3bcfc84900a64347b0fe1140229bd81314008. Event though with the above commit we obtain the configured DTIM period from the AP rather than always hardcoding it to '1', this seems to cause problems under the following scenarios: * Preventing association with broken AP's * Adds latency in roaming So its better to always use the safe value of '1' for dtim period Cc: Jouni Malinen <Jouni.Malinen@Atheros.com> Signed-off-by: Mohammed Shafi Shajakhan <mshajakhan@atheros.com> Signed-off-by: John W. ath9k: Parse DTIM period from mac80211 With the current save power save implementation we assume a dtim period of 1.This value is assigned based on a sanity check in the driver eventhough we had not parsed it from mac80211.This patch obtains the actual DTIM period from AP by parsing it from mac80211.Yet for handling multicast traffic we may still have it as fixed rather than parsing it from mac80211 .This does not breaks power save or anything as the sleep duration is currently fixed in the driver. This patch may serve to improve power save in the future by using dtim period for sleep duration and using correct dtim period adhoc mode. ath9k_htc: Fix target ready race condition The ready message from the target could be processed before the host HW init has completed. In this case, htc_process_target_rdy() would assume the target has timed out, when it hasn't. Fix this by checking if the target has sent the ready message properly. ath9k_htc: Fix beaconing in IBSS mode The current way of managing beaconing in ad-hoc mode has a subtle race - the beacon obtained from mac80211 is freed in the SWBA handler rather than the TX completion routine. But transmission of beacons goes through the normal SKB queue maintained in hif_usb, leading to a situation where __skb_dequeue() in the TX completion handler goes kaput. Fix this by simply getting a beacon from mac80211 for every SWBA and free it in its completion routine. Signed-off-by: Sujith <Sujith.Manoharan@atheros.com> Signed-off-by: John W.
