genoffset: simplify and rewrite in sh genoffset used the fully generic ASSYM macro to generate the offsets needed for the thread_lite structure. However, since these are offsets into a structure, they will always be necessarily small and positive. As such, just create a simple character array of the right size and use a naming convention such that we can recover the field name, structure name and type. Use nm -t d and sort -n to sort these into order, then loop over the resutls to generate the thread_lite structure. make critical_{enter, exit} inline Avoid pulling in all of the <sys/proc.h> dependencies by automatically generating a stripped down thread_lite exporting only the fields of interest. The field declarations are type checked against the original and the offsets of the generated result is automatically checked. kib has expressed disagreement and would have preferred to simply use genassym style offsets (which loses type check enforcement). jhb has expressed dislike of it due to header pollution and a duplicate structure. He would have preferred to just have defined thread in _thread.h. Nonetheless, he admits that this is the only viable solution at the moment. sys/sys: further adoption of SPDX licensing ID tags. Mainly focus on files that use BSD 2-Clause license, however the tool I was using misidentified many licenses so this was mostly a manual - error prone - task. The Software Package Data Exchange (SPDX) group provides a specification to make it easier for automated tools to detect and summarize well known opensource licenses. We are gradually adopting the specification, noting that the tags are considered only advisory and do not, in any way, superceed or replace the license texts.

These are changes to allow to use the Intel C/C++ compiler (lang/icc) to build the kernel. It doesn't affect the operation if gcc. Most of the changes are just adding __INTEL_COMPILER to #ifdef's, as icc v8 may define __GNUC__ some parts may look strange but are necessary. Use "nm | awk ..." instead of genassym(1) to generate symbol value headers. Symbol values are now represented using array sizes (4 arrays per symbol so that 16-bit machines can represent 64-bit values) instead of being raw binary values. Reviewed by: marcel

Define genassym related macros in a seperate include file to prevent each and every xxx_genassym.c file to seperately define these and also to promote uniformity and a level of abstraction. Symbols are created as unsigned long by default and overridable on a per file basis.
